Collaboration with Non Google Accounts

Now Google allows the Google Workspace ( previously known as G Suite) users  to collaborate with non-Google account users in Doc, Drive Slides, Sheet and Sites. It has been a very popular demand always from several Google Workspace users that they need a better collaboration option to work with their partners outside their domain, specially those who are holding non Google accounts. To ensure secure and seamless collaboration possible between them, Google has made Visitors Sharing available for specific versions of Google Workspace.

Using this facility users can invite and work with their partners who do not have Google accounts although it will have a protection of a personal identification number ( PIN ) to verify visitors identification.

You have to turn on the feature for your domain to allow the users to collaborate with any non Google account holders. An email Invitation will be received by non Google visitors. The time limit for verification is 7 days. Within this time users can collaborate on the shared item. By verifying the Identity again ( from the original link ) extension of this 7 days duration is possible. After the authentication process is completed then visitors can view, comment and edit the folders. However it is not allowed for visitors to create files but visitors can delete their session.

To enable this feature below mentioned steps will help,

Go to Apps >> G Suite >> Drive and Docs >> Sharing settings.

There are certain compelling reasons for which you may want to use this feature. Such as , Enhanced collaboration which allows you to comment, edit and more to the partner you work with. You can also keep a track of all interactions with the help of Audit Log. Just like the other collaborative features here also you can revoke visitors action and remove them.
