Material Design for Google Slides, Docs, Sheets, and Sites on Web
Material Design in Google Docs, Sheet, Sites and Slides helps to give new iconic design and a new look to your deliverables.

What is Material Design?
Material Design is the design language that Google developed in 2014. Material Design uses more grid-based layout, responsive transitions & animations, padding, and depth effects such as lighting and shadows.
What are the Products in G suite having material Design?

Which apps in G suite are getting new look?
Google Slides, Docs, Sheets, and Sites will be getting a new look and feel on the web. There are no changes in function. Find the below changes in look and feel:
In the Interface typography that uses Google’s custom-designed and highly-legible typefaces
There are new Controls (like buttons, dialogs, and sidebars) that are updated and consistent
In Iconography it is legible and crisp, with a fresh feel
The four products are included in this update in sharing a common design language.

Google started the rollout of this new design for G Suite subscribers on the Rapid Release schedule today and everybody who is on that should get it within the next 15 days. Users whose admins are a bit more timid and are sticking to the Scheduled Release schedule, will see the new design upcoming February 11. There are no updates for the free edition of Gmail. But it would be expected in next month too.
Google has been rolling out updated designs for its web and mobile apps over the last few months. Google Calendar was the latest apps to get this update, and with the addition of the G Suite productivity apps, Google has now mostly completed this project.
