Office 365 Business Plans are Renamed to Microsoft 365

Microsoft released a variety of latest office 365 announcements for small and medium-sized companies. With this announcement, all small and medium enterprise plans begin using Microsoft’s new brand.

Office 365 Business Plans are Renamed to Microsoft 365

The brand new Microsoft 365 is applicable for small and medium-sized businesses and office 365 ProPlus subscribers. Microsoft has introduced the brand new name which isn't implemented to Office 365 for Enterprise, Office 365 for Education, for Firstline workers, and for Government authorities. it is just a name change, and no longer reflective of exchange in capability.

Office 365 is categorized into three fundamental classifications: Personal, Business, and Enterprise. Microsoft has quite recently reported significant name changes to the Office 365 Business memberships to carry them into the Microsoft 365 family. While Microsoft first brought "Microsoft 365" some years in the past, the term supposed something very precise. Microsoft 365 (M365) became a subscription package deal of Windows 10 Enterprise, workplace 365, and enterprise Mobility packed with safety. As of these days, that particular definition does not hold, as some Office 365 subscriptions also are getting the M365 call. Going forward, a few M365-branded commercial subscriptions now consist of home windows and PC/device Management tools, but others aren’t.

Plans that are affected by the change include the following:

  • Office 365 Business Essentials is renamed as Microsoft 365 Business Basic
  • Office 365 Business Premium is renamed as Microsoft 365 Business Standard
  • Office 365 Business and Office 365 Pro Plus become Microsoft 365 Apps, with Microsoft using "for business" and "for the enterprise" as labels to distinguish the two where necessary.

One other related name change announced today which isn't Office 365 specifically: Microsoft 365 Business - which not like the Office 365 plans above, already does encompass device management - is rebranded as Microsoft 365 Business Premium.

Plans which are not affected by the M365 name change and which will keep their existing names:

Office 365 for Enterprise

  • Office 365 E1
  • Office 365 E3
  • Office 365 E5

Office 365 for Firstline

  • Office 365 F1

Office 365 for Education

  • Office 365 A1
  • Office 365 A3
  • Office 365 A5

Office 365 for Government

  • Office 365 G1
  • Office 365 G3
  • Office 365 G5

If you presently have Office 365 Business Essentials, Business Premium, or Microsoft 365 Business, then the main change is that you will have your membership refreshed to the new name. There is nothing you have to do. You basically need to get acquainted with the new name.
