Gemini for Google Workspace has replaced Duet AI for Google Workspace from February 22, 2024. Gemini will be built into the Workspace apps that millions of customers use every day, giving customers access to Google’s most capable AI models. It's basically an AI assistant built specifically to work within the familiar apps you already use in Google Workspace, like Gmail, Docs, and Sheets.

Gemini for Google Workspace can help you be more productive and creative. If you are stuck on an email or document, Gemini can help you draft content, suggest creative ideas, or even proofread your work for grammar and style. 

Gemini can analyze information and identify trends to help you gain insights, thereby making  a complex topic, easy to understand. Gemini can generate images and designs to complement your ideas and help you to add some visual flair to your presentations.

What has changed with Gemini?

Gemini has undergone several significant updates since its launch in December 2023. Here's a quick summary of the key improvements:

• Improved image generation: Google addressed issues with image generation of people, temporarily pausing the feature to improve accuracy.

• Availability: Gemini is now available to consumers through the Google One AI Premium plan.

• Enterprise-grade data protections: Gemini now offers enterprise-grade data protections and copyright indemnification, giving businesses confidence to use Gemini in the workplace. Administrators can also manage Gemini settings through the Google Workspace admin console.

• Gemini Enterprise plan: The Duet AI for Google Workspace Enterprise add-on is now called Gemini Enterprise. Gemini Enterprise includes full usage and access to generative AI features in Workspace, such as Help me write, organize, and visualize, and more. Gemini Enterprise will continue to be the best way to get our most advanced AI features, like live translated captions in Meet.

• New Gemini Business plan: A new Gemini Business plan is now available, providing a lower-cost entry point for organizations of all sizes to get started with generative AI in Workspace. This plan includes features like Help me write in Docs and Gmail, Enhanced Smart Fill in Sheets, and image generation in Slides.

How much will Gemini cost?

Gemini for Workspace comes in two flavors with different pricing structures:

Gemini Business: This plan is targeted towards small businesses and teams. It provides core functionalities like writing assistance in Docs and Gmail, enhanced Smart Fill in Sheets, and image generation in Slides. The cost is $20 per user per month with an annual commitment. This plan comes with a usage limit or capping on the number of actions allowed per month.

Gemini Enterprise: This plan replaces the former Duet AI for Workspace Enterprise and offers all the features of Business along with uncapped usage for heavy users. Additionally, it includes AI-powered features for meetings, such as live caption translation in over 100 languages and note-taking (coming soon). The price for Enterprise is $30 per user per month with an annual commitment. This plan doesn't have any usage limit or capping on the number of actions allowed per month.

Additionally to what is offered on Gemini Business plan, Gemini Enterprise offers a couple of AI meeting features, with more on the horizon:

• Live caption translation: This feature provides real-time captions for your meetings, with the ability to translate them into over 100 languages. This can be a huge benefit for meetings with participants who speak different languages or have hearing impairments.

• Automated note-taking (coming soon): This feature is not yet available but is planned for future rollout. It will use AI to automatically take notes during your meetings, capturing key points, decisions, and action items. This can save you a lot of time and effort compared to traditional note-taking methods.

Overall, Gemini Enterprise aims to enhance your meetings through real-time translation and, in the future, with automated note-taking, making them more inclusive and productive for everyone involved.
