Fix Sync Issue on Android

Your brain creates a ruckus as it sees these sync error messages when your Android device starts syncing with your Account. Normally the sync issue is temporary. But if sync issue happens regularly, try working out the solutions mentioned herein.

Try Syncing your Google Account Manually

Go to your Android device’s settings app.

Click Users & Accounts.

Click the Account (the one you want to sync).

Then click Account sync.

Click More and select sync now.

If the sync is done the issue is fixed.


Some Common Sync Solutions

Check if the auto-sync is turned on for syncing to happen automatically.

Make sure to check your internet connection.

Sometimes the issue is that you cannot sign-in to your account. Try signing on other devices to see if this is the case or not. 

If account sign-in is not an issue try working out other solutions as it is due to the device.

If you cannot sign-in your account. Then the account is creating the problem.

The issue is also fixed if your system is updated. You can check the same as follows :

Go to your Device’s settings app.

At the bottom, you will see System, click on it. Then go to Advanced > System Update.

You can now see the status of your system update.

 

Remove and re-add the account to your phone

  1. Open your phone's Settings.

  2. Click Accounts.

  3. At the bottom of the screen, you will see the Add Account, click it.

  4. Choose the account you want to add.

    • To add Google Account, tap Google.

    • To add a different personal account, click Personal (IMAP) or Personal (POP3). Choose this one if you use an email program like Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail.

    • Follow the on-screen instructions.

  5. If you're adding accounts, you may need to enter your phone's pattern, PIN, or password for security.

Remove account from your Device

Removing an account from your phone can result in everything connected with that account, also getting deleted from your phone.

  1. Open your phone's Settings 

  2. Tap Accounts.

  3. Tap the account you want to remove, click Remove account.

  4. You need to enter your phone's pattern, PIN, or password for security.

Force sync your account

Reset the date & time settings manually to force sync your account.

  1. Open your device's Settings.

  2. Tap System and then Date & time.

  3. Turn off the Automatic date & time and Automatic time zone.

  4. Manually change the date and time wrongly.

  5. Go to Home

  6. Open your device's Settings again > System >Date & time again.

  7. Manually change the date and time to the right date & time.

  8. Then Turn on Automatic date & time and Automatic time zone.

Force sync using the Phone app 

 Try to force sync your account using the Phone app.

  1. Open your Phone app.

  2. Tap on the Keypad.

  3. Dial *#*# CHECKIN #*#* (*#*#2432546#*#*).

  4. You will see a notification "Checkin succeeded." This message shows your phone is synced.

Clear Data & Cache

Backup your contacts first

  1. Open your Contacts.

  2. Click Menu and then go to settings

  3. Tap Export.

  4. Select a location, like your Drive.

  5. Then click Save.

Now Clear cached data

After backing up contacts, you can clear your device's cached data.

  1. Go to your device's Settings.

  2. Click Storage.

  3. Tap Other apps. 

  4. Then in Contacts, Clear cache.

Last is to Restore contacts

  1. Go to Contacts again.

  2. In Menu click settings.

  3. Tap Import then select *.vcf file.

  4. Choose the *.vcf file that you exported.
