Search Option Issue and Wrong Time Stamp Issue in Outlook While Syncing with Gmail

SEARCH OPTION ISSUE:

Sometimes customers face this issue while Microsoft Outlook client is syncing with Gmail. During this period, in Search option of Outlook, it does not show any emails with subject line or name. This issue causes confusion for the customer that whether the emails have properly synced from Gmail or not.

Also, it causes difficulties to find particular email in the folder at the time of need.

The issue has nothing to do with Gmail and it does not occur due to syncing with Gmail.

The issue can be solved by rebuilding the indexing option from outlook console.

How to do it?

The following steps are needed to rebuild the “indexing” :

  1. Go to File

  2. Click on “options”

  3. Select “search” from the option in the left.

  4. Under “include results only from” select “ current folder”

  5. Click on “ Indexing options”

  6. Click on “Advanced”

  7. Click “ rebuild”

  8. Click “ok”

This can take a long time to complete, but you can continue to use Outlook and it will do this in the background.

WRONG TIME OR DATE SHOWING FOR THE EMAILS IN OUTLOOK:

Sometimes while syncing Gmail with outlook or migrating to Gmail from any other Legacy environment and then syncing with outlook/ downloading in outlook, shows different dates or time for emails. That also creates too much confusion to determine the time stamp. But if you open any particular email, you will find the original time stamp or a different time stamp rather than the outside timestamp.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Go to “view” option in outlook from the top section.

  2. Go to Advanced view setting.

  3. Click on “columns”.

  4. Now you will find two options there. (a) Available columns(left)

                                                            (b) Show this columns(right)

  1. Now drag the “ received” field from the “ show this columns”( right) to the “ available columns( left) .

  2. Now drag the “sent items”  field from the “ available columns” (left) to the show this columns”( right)

  3. Click on OK.
