Advanced Logs of Email in G Suite
It is a smart way to keep a track of the Email activity of the users in a domain. Ultimately, it helps the admin to check the delivery status and acts as an extra security feature.

Email Log Search is a way to track the users sending & receiving emails in your domain. It is basically used to look after the delivery status of an Email or track the email messages over the past 30 days. This privilege is given to domain administrator only, who can have a track of all received and sent mails by all the users of the domain. This feature is only available in the G Suite Basic, Business and Enterprise version.
The details which you get through the search are:
Subject - The subject line of the Email.
Sender - ID of the sender.
No. of Recipient - In case the mail is for one recipient or a group of recipient as well as the recipient IDs.
Date - Date and time of the sent or received mail.
Message ID- Unique message identifier in the message header.
Message Size - size of the message in kb/mb.
No. of Attachments- No.of attachments assigned to the mail.
Direction (Received / Sent) - Describes whether the mail is received or sent.
Status: It shows the delivery status of the mail.
In order to do Email Log Search, you need to do the following steps:-

Login to your admin console by providing the credentials.

Go to Reports, then go to the Audit section, and click on Email Log Search.

Select a date range from the drop-down.
In order to select a specific range, you need to choose it from the calendar. The range is only available for 30 days.
And to search for messages older than 30 days, you need to provide Recipient and Message ID.
But when searching for older than 30 days, you can’t access the message delivery history, only Post - delivery message details are available.
After providing all the essentials the search result will be displayed. To get the description of a particular Email Log, click on it.
Post Delivery Message Details : -
The details which you get regarding the message in the post delivery part are :-
Label - Whether the message has been assigned to a different label, apart from the default label available in the inbox.
Marked Important - Whether the message has been marked important.
Marked Unimportant - Whether the message is marked as unimportant.
Opened and Marked Unread - Whether it has been opened and viewed but marked as unread.
Opened and Read - Whether it was opened and viewed.
Seen / Unseen - Whether the message is listed in the user’s view or is yet to be loaded into it.
Spam - Whether it has been marked as spam.
Starred - Whether it has been marked starred.
Unopened and marked read/Unread - Whether the message was not opened but is marked as read or it was neither open nor viewed.
Delivery Message Details: -
Archived - Whether the message has been archived.
Bounced - Whether the message has bounced due to issues like the mailbox has reached receiving limit, or the message is violating any compliances, or the IP has been blacklisted.
Delivered - Whether the message has been delivered to the Gmail Inbox or has been sent to a third party SMTP server, you can find the details in the message details section. ( You can also get the same details regarding the receiving , that whether it has been sent from Google internal server or a SMTP server.)
Quarantined - Whether the message has been quarantined and requires administrators examination for delivery or rejection.
Apart from the above mentioned, there are also many other statuses like - Marked spam, Rejected, Sent to group members, Forwarded to Group etc.
