The Launch of the Beta Version of G Suite Migrate, a New Tool for Data Transfer

Google tries its best to implement new features in order to provide a world-class user experience. The technology leader always focuses on making apps user-friendly so that whenever someone who is not so tech-savvy tries to use Google’s products, he or she can use it with minimum queries.

Recently Google has launched the Beta version of G Suite Migrate. This new self-developed tool will help administrators to evaluate and plan the migration of projects as well as to migrate large amounts of relevant content confidently direct to G Suite. G Suite Migrate is developed using Google Cloud’s AppBridge technology. Google acquired AppBridge in 2017.

With G Suite Migrate, you can safely migrate large amounts of data from your organization, making the transition even easier to G Suite. Specifically, G Suite Migrate will provide assistance with the following:

  • Assessment: Analyze the source environments quickly to help plan accurately the goals and key observation points of the project.

  • Migration: Migrate valuable data quickly from several sources.

  • Tracking: Quickly identify the progress and in-depth condition of projects with detailed aggregate and granular logging functionality.

To avoid interruptions in the productivity of end users, G Suite Migrate maintains a high level of fidelity in content migrations from compatible sources (Microsoft as of now): Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive and File Shares. As part of this Beta version, the following versions will be compatible:

  • Exchange: Exchange 2010, 2013 and 2016 and Office 365

  • Sharepoint: SharePoint 2010, 2013 and 2016, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business

  • File Shares: File servers for Windows, NAS, SAN, shared files on the network and NFS repositories.

Customers of the following editions of G Suite are eligible to register in the G Suite Migrate Beta program: G Suite Business, G Suite Enterprise, G Suite Enterprise for Education and Drive Enterprise. (Not available for G Suite Basic, G Suite for Education, or G Suite for Non-Profit Organizations).
